SAFCO Goes the Extra Mile for Paws for a Cause

Every year SAFCO team members put their best foot forward in a 5K race to support Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR), one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida. This year they raised more than $2,000 with their efforts.

The 5K race was virtual this year, enabling team members to complete the race however they wanted over a six-day period. They could walk, run, bike, use a treadmill, and have their own pets or family members join in on the fun.

Team members used apps and digital devices to track their progress, and then submitted their results to earn points as part of the company’s Go365 employee health and wellness program.

There was also a special drawing among participants to win two extra paid days off in 2021.

Andrew Pickens, SAFCO Vice President of Human Resources, said the money they raised was used in part to house a sweet dog named Brandi before she was adopted on Christmas Eve.
